Embodied Anatomy and Therapeutics

The 100h Yoga Therapy Training aims at making the inner and outer landscape of the body more accessible. This training highlights the therapeutic aspects of yoga practice, while offering a structured framework of anatomical knowledge to better understand how to adapt asana and cues. The personal development of the teacher/practitioner is at the heart of this training.

Training Content:

  • Introduction to the large joints of the body, conserving long-term joint health

  • Yoga sequences and adaptations relating to all the major joints

  • Introduction to the nervous system, stress-related issues and the fascial net

  • Experiencing and teaching Yoga Nidra, meditation and therapeutic asana practice

  • Understanding and adapting "bodyreading" to yoga/ balancing the different body systems in a holistic approach

  • Managing injured students in class/adapting to physical imbalances

  • Meaning of stress and trauma on a physical and mental level, offering yoga and somatic practices

  • Understanding the potential and the limitations of helping others through practice

  • Introduction to basic therapeutical concepts (i.e. setting and respecting healthy boundaries; learning mindful touch)

  • Thriving and developing potential as a teacher; exploring, understanding and transcending personal patterns and finding sustainable teaching tools

Who is this training intended for?

  • For yoga teachers interested in developing therapeutic skills and diving deeper into the holistic and healing aspects of yoga practice for themselves and for their students.

  • For interested practitioners, looking to deepen or adapt their personal practice by developing more insight into different body systems and how to integrate this into their personal practice.

What will I learn?

As a yoga teacher you will emerge from this training with a deeper understanding of the body/mind connection and how to integrate this into your teaching. You will refine and develop your skillset towards becoming clearer, more subtle, and more differentiated in adapting the practice to your students. This means choosing and adapting asana more intentionally in group and private class settings as well as working with physical and stress-related issues.

As a practitioner you will learn how to practice in a sustainable, intelligent way for your body and find tools to disengage from conditioned patterning on and off the yoga mat.

This training offers an explorative, insightful and embodied approach to learning and transferring this knowledge into a practical context.

About Susan

Susan Michel is a Certified Advanced Rolfer, Naturopath and Yoga Teacher with more than 20 years of practice. She teaches anatomy and therapeutics in 200h and 300h hour teacher trainings around Europe as well as her own trainings. She lives near Munich, where she runs a private practice as a Rolfer and Yoga Therapist.

Rolfing is a fascial therapy that offers many helpful insights for a better “felt-sense” of the body and understanding of the physical structure for yoga teachers and practitioners alike. Susan’s teaching integrates this knowledge into yoga in a light and accessible way without diluting its theoretical foundations. The Yoga Therapy Training she has developed is based on a synergy of her many years of teaching, training and working as a therapist.
